Today, in many provinces of Afghanistan, high-capacity scales are often calibrated using non-standard weights and traditional methods—for example, comparing a scale with another using heavy trucks or using cement bags. These methods do not comply with recognized standards for calibrating high-capacity scales.
What is Calibration?
Calibration is the process of comparing a measuring device with a reference standard to determine its error relative to that standard, and, if necessary, adjusting the device according to the relevant standards.
Did you know that scales installed and in use worldwide are typically calibrated every three months? This is because, over time, especially in the load cells, minor errors can occur. If not checked and adjusted, these errors can cause the scale to display weights that are either too high or too low.
